Writer's Block: Come here often?

[Error: unknown template qotd]

Do . . . do people ever actually use pick-up lines? Seriously? The only time I've ever heard them used is as jokes, never for real. Allegedly Lisa's dad said to her mom, "I'd ask you about your life, but it only started once you met me" . . . but I think at that point he'd already picked her up (it was like their first date or something?) and was kidding.

If someone used a pick-up line on me, I would laugh, because I would assume it was a joke. Depending on the delivery, I might be more attracted to them because of their sense of humor. However, if they weren't joking, that would be super-awkward and most assuredly have me moving in the opposite direction.

I heard through the grapevine that some guy somewhere went up to a girl, rolled a 20-sided die and said, "Charisma check!" -- I said that one might actually work on me, depending on the guy and how he said it, because I would laugh so hard.

I have had pickup lines thrown at me but I usually roll my eyes and keep walking.

Yeah, that was their first date. When they first met, my dad spilled beer on her legs ("she was wearing really short shorts and was just asking for it!") and asked her if she would be a cheerleader for their baseball game.

I'm just like Oliver Wood, baby... I'm a keeper!

It didn't work on me, but I think you just picked up my friend Tiffany.

Hi Tiffany! What's your House? Come to the Restricted Section often? I know your name's not Luna, but I bet you know how to Lovegood!

You forgot, in your opening line line involving Oliver Wood: "Why don't you take a ride on my broomstick?" And of course some comment involving wands.

Sometimes wands and broomsticks are just wands and broomsticks

I wasn't going to, but since you insist:

The thought of you makes something vast and silver erupt from my wand.

Also, I'm reminded of this. I ♥ Sinfest.

Like, in the opposite direction and then back again repeatedly? Because that's a victory in my book!
