New Year Cards

Since it’s my last New Year in Japan, I want to do it right and send out official 年賀状 (nengajou), or New Year’s cards. These postcards give thanks and send well-wishes for the coming year, and they’re such an important part of the Japanese New Year holiday that the Japan Post holds all the cards so they can be delivered on actual New Year’s Day. (Though you may get yours before or after; I’ll be taking them in pretty early and I’m sure not the Japan Post policy for international cards).

Plus 2011 is the Year of the Rabbit, which is my zodiac symbol! (I identify as a Rabbit much more than I identify as a Taurus). Rabbits are sensitive, creative, compassionate, stylish, and lucky-- and they make for some darn cute cards (:

I’m doing a separate gathering of addresses through Facebook, email, etc for people I know *in real life,* so seriously, just because we only know each other on Livejournal doesn’t mean you aren’t important enough to me to deserve a cute postcard with a bunny on it. I wouldn’t have posted this here otherwise (:

PS: And if you’re still not convinced, how about this: If you get a card, you could also win the lottery. (Though this could be an international Void Where Prohibited sort of thing).
