Writer's Block: Love on LiveJournal

Yes, but in all cases I also knew them in real life-- and in one case I didn't know he had an LJ until I dated him, so it wasn't like I was reading his entries and falling in love with him there.
On several occasions (including Robert) I've also been the reason why they joined LJ in the first place, to read my entries.
In other news, I ended up watching the Olympic opening ceremonies on TV-- and Robert was watching them with me, through Skype, because he doesn't get cable service! I really enjoyed them. I missed the first part, coming in first to what looked like an alien abduction, but I loved the fiddling part and was really excited to see Loreena McKennitt (Robert and I both gasped-- he's a fan, too). Plus I just love seeing how countries represent themselves, and enjoy the pageantry of the world coming together to watch the same series of events.
I feel sad for the family and countrymen of Nodar Kumaritashvili, the Georgian luge competitor who wiped out on the track the morning of the ceremony. Though it makes me feel a little better to know he probably died very happy, with the honor of participating in the Olympics and the joy of doing something he loved.
Apparently the luge track has been having a lot of problems beyond that, however, which makes me concerned. It'd be difficult enough for the other competitors to stay clear-headed after the tragedy, but worrying about the danger in an already massively dangerous sport? People may perform badly because they're in their heads about it-- or there might even be another accident.
