I don't usually watch TV, but today I did-- a lot. It was all full of tornado-y goodness!

Lisa and Miche watch it regularly, and occasionally I join them (I can usually do Introduction to Psychological Statistics homework at the same time)-- and, when I saw that it involved a tornado, in the previews, I just had to join!

It was intense. Of course, Hollywood sucks ass at depicting a response to a tornado (being in California and all?). Putting tape on windows (hurricanes, much?), making arrangements of "whose basement to stay in to ride out the storm," everyone actually making a big deal about the "tornado watch" (it was all over the news, everyone was talking about it; hell, I'm lucky if one other person besides me ever knows that information!)-- and everyone like knowing it was coming for like hours ahead of time (once again, hurricanes, folks). Great foreshadowing, sure, but yeah, that doesn't ever really happen, at least not in my experience. Usually it's just like "Oh, a tornado watch? K. That means rain, probably; I guess I'll carry an umbrella." Then "Huh. Tornado siren. Guess I'll drive back from the grocery store and maybe make sure I know where the flashlight is." Then, finally: "OH HOLY FUCKING SHIT FUNNEL CLOUD KIDS GET THE FUCK IN THE BASEMENT-- WAIT-- NO TIME-- CLOSET-- MATTRESS-- SHIT!"

Anyway, the ending left me feeling kind of nauseous and it's right before a big break, apparently /-: I don't think it can possibly be as bad as they made it out to be-- because that's their job, to freak you out and bring you back, over and over again-- but, still /-: The empathetic imagination sets me over the edge, lol . . .

Lisa, Miche, and I also watched the first installment of this miniseries "Tin Man," based on The Wizard of Oz. It's a bit difficult to watch as one has to remember it's drawing only from The Wizard of Oz, and not Wicked. There are some things they probably could have made more parallel than they did (Do ruby slippers ever show up or anything like that?), but it was entertaining. Basically, they made the Tin Man a badass-- think like cheesy cowboy/gangster lines, etc-- I guess to have him be "heartless" in the literal sense. (Though I thought he was supposed to be like an Intuitive-Feeler archetype?). Even so, it's nice to see the character gets some development; Dorothy's the protagonist, the Scarecrow always gets the most attention, and the Lion is sort of a endearing favorite-- and poor Tin Man never gets any love! (And Lisa, Miche, and I are all guessing if there's going to be a romantic interest, it'll be with him, even if he is old enough to have had a wife and son already O.o). The Wicked Witch of the West counterpart is not green in the least; in fact, she pretty much looks like Bellatrix Lestrange (and, Tiffany and Jessica, acts pretty much like Eveline, lol).
