My old elementary school. It's a historical building in our town, as far as historical buildings go, first a high school in like 1920 and then a junior high, and then finally an elementary school. It's a pretty nice building, on the outside, but it is rather old and not very good as a school anymore. Plus it's in a very poor neighborhood. They were thinking about turning it into a community center, which I thought was a great idea, but, no, fuckers want to bulldoze it. Not like they'll do anything with the land; it'll just sit there for ages untouched, like it would be with a building on it.
Eh, at least they leveled it before it looked like it needed it. I'm not terribly fond of my memories of Roosevelt, myself, but I did take it personally when they got rid of the old shopping center near my house, so, y'know, I can relate. I wrote a paper about it and everything--my Creative Writing teacher loved it.
It was the only school I bothered learning the school song for . . . I rather liked Roosevelt. Maybe it was just because it was better than Pinewood. I had Psycho Socialist Teacher of Death Boredom.
I liked pinewood....but then again, I had an awesome first grade teacher. My 2nd grade one was also a Psycho Socialist Teacher of Hell....But the rest were good... :)
I'm telling you, Elkhart has no appreciation for the past. Get the hell out while you can, before you too have been sucked into the petty lives of the nouveau riche and pseudo-famous.
*sigh* I knkew they would do somthing stupid with that....DUDE, PICKET LINE!!! Lol, make some signs and PROTEST!!! That'd be fun.....Non-violent protesting is always a fun time...
