I had fun today, at Speech practice, at least. Today was just . . . normal. I practiced Spanish, listened to a report on Roman Christianity and Eastern Orthodox Christianity, and took notes on the Roman Republic, Roman Empire, and Holy Roman Empire (and we also talked about Commodus, that dude from Gladiator, lol). Then in English we read more Macbeth (and I can't help but be happy for Liz, since she enjoys reading her part so much, even if I am jealous, lol . . . I want to read a big part . . . but you knew that), and in Economics we took another Commie-style quiz (lol, I love group quizzes), and I found out I got a darn B- on my test (blehh . . . ) and then in Orchestra we played songs, as usual.

Speech, Nichole and Kristina have joined! That was fun. Kristina's doing something on Gatsby, Nichole's doing something from Les Miserables, and possible Hamlet (Ophelia!), and perhaps we might do a duo later in the year on Romeo and Juliet. Coupled with my Snape's Worst Memory, we're doing all my favorite works of literature, ever! I'M SO EXCITED!!!

Mr. Berstein said that he didn't have anything to fix anything in my LD Debate. So that was cool. Now I just have to write all of my contentions . . .

I read my Prose piece today and people listened, and then we got in a huge heated discussion about Harry Potter, which was so much fun and so off-subject (especially when we got to talking about who was hottest, lol . . . ), and I hardly got any practicing done, but it was very, very fun! I was so exhilirated . . . I love talking about Harry Potter. My cheeks are all flushed, now, lol ^_^ of course . . . that could have something to do with the fact that I'm wearing a sweater.

The only thing I didn't work on was Original Oratory . . . I need to get working on that . . .

I think I will watch the Presidential Debate tonight, or at least part of it. This is very important. I don't know how long it will go, though, and I need sleep . . .

Oh-- random thing. I was reading this article in US News (which is like my new favorite magazine, lol . . . or at least the one I read the most) about teenage girls in Iraq, and how the war is affecting them. It talked about how some schools are handling it, and how some places are trying to get more girls to be conservative and wear headscarves and things to protect themselves. Also, the first thing a hospital does when checking up on an Iraqi girl who has been kidnapped is to check that her virginity is still intact; they're set on that virtue thing . . . So then it had examples of the more Americanized girls . . . girls who wear Western clothes and like American singers and have posters of them on their walls, go online, and even have (*gasp*) secret boyfriends.

Anyway, then they went to girls who were a little less rebellious-- and not just conservative. They interviewed this one chick, Leila (Leila . . . you got me on my knees, Leila . . . lol), who really reminds me of the Iraqi Bellatrix. Shoot. She's a big follower of one of the major insurgent groups, and she says that the only thing she likes better about this Iraq is that women now have a chance to fight. She has been trained with firearms and bombs and things, and she said she wanted nothing more than to be a martyr. The closing line was something about how in the new Iraq even women can fly the planes that blow up buildings or something . . .
It's kind of funny . . . ultrareligiousness for such a conservative sect of Islam, and yet feminism. I've always got the feeling Bellatrix, the only (well . . . at least only MENTIONED) female Death Eater, was fighting a very similar battle. It's kind of freaky.

Well, I admire her for her resolve, devotion, and seizure of her opportunity at advancement, though I do indeed disagree with her methods.

Ooh, hmm . . . I just realized I had a dream last night about playing the SIMs . . . random thought. I haven't played that in a while.

I want to start a Potpan fan club. Nichole and I (and probably Kristina are already in it). Anyone remember Potpan? Here is his theme song:

My name is Potpan;
I like to dance.
I scrub the pots,
And wipe my pants.

We have a dance to it, too ^_^
