Wow, I remember a lot more about my day when I haven't had to spend an extra two hours at school.

In World History we watched a movie on Julius Caesar. He really was a really vain little man. He plucked out all his body hair with tweezers. I don't know why we needed to know that. Anyway . . . he reminded me of Voldemort. Also perhaps Lucius Malfoy. Then again . . . I cannot go an entire period of World History-- or any class, for that matter-- without thinking about Harry Potter. It's like guys and sex (though they always neglect to mention that girls think about sex ALMOST as often as guys do, just a little bit less. Well, hey, we're all hormonal, what can I say?).

In English we started reading Macbeth. I still need to have a chat with her about Hamlet. I am PISSED OFF though. I waited to try to get my name at the top of the pile, but it did me no good. I was like the last one picked; I even asked piteously, "What's the biggest part left?" So I am now stuck reading Donalbain who I swear has two lines and "The Lords" who (plural?) has about five. Shit, I didn't even get a witch so that I could sing the Harry Potter song.

Speaking of which (witch-- ha! Ha! *Cough* mmm . . . okay), I am going to bring in that CD and force her to listen to it. I can say that it's a reference to classic literature in a semi-modern context. Of course, whoever wrote it so totally skewed the lines. Eh, it's based off it. Plus I want something to do. I never pay attention if I don't read. I just sit there and think about how bad it sucks that I don't get to read anything. Nichole was not sympathetic once again. Dude-- it makes me happy, and it's apparently a f*cking big deal to me, don't tell me it's not. It's damn pathetic, I KNOW-- but that's the way it is.

We wrote our microthemes on our least favorite foods. I wrote about fruit, naturally, focusing on canned fruit. I wrote a very descriptive paragraph on the repulsiveness of canned fruit, so graphic that I might very well have a few converts to the fruit-haters were I to have anyone read it. Nichole, of course, wrote on chocolate-- and steak. I pointed out to her that chocolate was better than fruit (once again); after all, chocolate cures depression brought on by exposure to Dementors. Remus Lupin doesn't walk around handing out FRUIT, now, does he? Point proven.

Give a shout-out if you like chocolate!!! Lol . . .

We had a very crowded table where we sat at lunch, but I liked having Alice and Robert, and Liz sit with us-- even if Liz did sort of float off, and Robert and Alice mostly talked to themselves. Then again, I don't talk very much at lunch, anyway.

Today is a good day to listen to music, particularly my Halloween CD (I made it last night ^_^). It seems so stark in the cool air; everything seems so close. I like the full moon, and the wetness, the greyness . . . it's a very Kathryn day. It reminds me of England (and now full moons do, too, *sigh* that was beautiful, when we went last year . . . and college visits, too . . . when we went to DePauw and the night we got back it was a lunar eclipse and I wrote that cool Remus post . . . that was a cool way to do one of those "close misses" he talked about in the third book . . . ). Right now it's Mummer's Dance by Loreena McKennitt-- one of Kathryn's first theme songs.

It makes me want to go stand out in a wet moor. Maybe it's my Celtic blood stirring.

Boadicea by Enya sounded so cool while sitting up in my dark room.

We had an Economics test today. No comment.

My Economics paper is a beautiful thing. The interviews crack me up. I hope Mrs. Velkoff's in the mood to be amused. After all, she has to read a ton of these.

Interviews
Subject #1 is a 17-year-old female currently taking academic Economics at Memorial High School. She refused to interview. "I'm not doing anything that has to do with Econ. I'm sick of Econ," she said.

Subject #2 is also a 17-year-old female. She was interviewed on Sunday, September 26th, at approximately 11:00 am, after a limited amount of sleep, three action movies, and a (semi) successful cookie-baking section. The interview took place in her bedroom, and the subject wore pajamas.
Do you understand the article?
Yeah.
Do you understand the analysis?
Yeah.
Do you find the analysis interesting?
No.
Do you find the topic interesting? Why or why not?
I could care less about Econ.
What are your opinions on the topic?
Um . . . it's really boring.

Subject #3 is a 9-year-old male attending Roosevelt Elementary who prefers to be known as "Donald Trump, Jr." When asked to interview, he responded with a hearty, "Yea!" The interview took place on Sunday, September 26th, at approximately 4:45 pm, in the subject's living room. The subject was dressed and had just come in from jumping on the trampoline.
Do you understand the article?
Yeah! (Subject proceeded to sum up the article)
Do you understand the analysis?
Yes . . . I think so. Except . . . on the graph, what did the P and the Q stand for? (Subject was informed) Oh, okay, now I understand.
Do you find the analysis interesting?
Yes! I'm very interested in business.
Do you find the topic interesting? Why or why not?
Yes. I think I understand Wal-Mart better now.
Follow-up: Would you do it, if you started a business, in your business?
If the employees agreed. I would do it for people in semi-retirement, you know . . . like . . . like if they don't need to work full-time anymore.
What are your opinions on the topic?
If the company and the employees agree, it's fine.

Subject #4 is a 17-year-old female who, when asked if she would like a nickname, responded with, "Ooh, can you call me 'Bandit?'" The interview took place in the corner of A-Hall at Central High School by Student Reception at approximately 3:15. The subject was dressed in school clothes.
Do you understand the article?
Um, for as much as I read, yeah . . .
Do you understand the analysis?
Yeah.
Do you find the analysis interesting?
Well . . . the graph was better than the papers. The pictures add a lot.
Do you find the topic interesting? Why or why not?
Not at all.
What are your opinions on the topic?
It's just that Econ's not interesting.

Subject #5 is a 17-year-old female who at first asked to be called "Hobo" and later switched it to "Student X." She is currently enrolled in academic Economics at Central High School. The interview took place in the corner of A-Hall at Central High School by Student Reception at approximately 3:15. The subject was dressed in school clothes.
Do you understand the article?
To be honest, I barely read it. I got the gist of it, but what I read of it, yeah. They could have summed it up in about three sentences. I hope the author realizes this.
Do you understand the analysis?
I read even less of that. It had bigger font. That was cool.
Do you find the analysis interesting?
Not at all.
Do you find the topic interesting? Why or why not?
No, I think Economics is something that's really obvious and shouldn't be studied; it's just so . . . (Subject made a violent gesture with the hands and cut herself off with a frustrated sigh) It's based on logic! It's starts off that way. Then it gets crazy.
What are your opinions on the topic?
They should treat their workers better.

Conclusions
-17-year-old females care very little for Economics.
-Bedroom attire does not illicit very awake responses from subjects.
-Visual quality of articles, including pictures and font, are more important to 17-year-old females than the actual content.
-My little brother knows about as much about Economics as I do (though I still have him beat on the graphs, apparently).

Thank you to all who helped, by the way.

See if you can guess who those people were, lol . . .
