Okay *sigh of relief* I can live without fear of spoilers, now.
I JUST FINISHED THE BOOK!!!
( Spoilers for Book 7 )Oh, and, yeah, I am home.
The kids left Saturday morning, we cleaned all day, the new staff arrived, and then we all went out to dinner. The drinking-age sensei got drunk, but that's only funny for so long so Hideko, Akane, and I went out and got the HP book. I read aloud in the car, and then Hideko and I sat outside and read at approximately the same pace. As the night wore on, we switched off reading to one another while each other packed and readied ourselves for bed, etc . . . We got through like the first 100 pages this way.
We all slept in Nagano (I didn't have to move, woot!), and early in the morning departed on a bus for Minneapolis (goodbyes to a lot of people, then). I read most of the way, and ate all of the rest of Tory's chocolate zucchini bread loaf (which was about half of it! /-: no wonder I feel weird today) she sent me which arrived just before I left. I checked my bags at the airport, said goodbye to a few more people, and then hung out with Shuuichi, Kenji, Tomoko, Yukiko, and Keisuke at the Mall of America until Kenji and I had to make it back for our flights. The flight was painless-- except they lost one of my bags at the airport and it was supposed to get here by noon, and we're still waiting for it . . . It has my dirty laundry and all my toiletries (I slept without my retainer last night, poo /-:), and my candy!
I actually don't have all that much candy )-: The store was pretty much sold out before the kids went home, and they got rid of what was left when their parents came with cash on closing day. So the pickings are pretty slim and it's mostly just stuff to try that everybody has to share )-: and no ramune or Calpis )-:
Interesting thing: I was told by several staff members I was one of the most laid-back and chill people on the staff. This is flooring to me. I don't know whether I've made some personal growth, just felt more comfortable in that environment, or everyone else was just even
more anal, lol . . .
It's good to be back. What is this air-conditioning thing? I'd forgotten all about it . . . lol . . . I can tell the adjustment back to non-Japanese food is going to be interesting (my stomach feels like lead, already!). I have had an ear of corn, already, though ^_^
I want to see people . . . today I'm probably mostly relaxing/unpacking, tomorrow I'm taking Tory, Neil, and Thomas (our exchange student; haven't gotten to talk to him a whole lot but he's very nice and is also trucking through Harry Potter-- no one in the house is finished yet! Neil is only like a chapter away, but the rest are like on Chapter 3!) to the fair. I can't be gone all the time since Thomas is here (but people can show up here? Perhaps those of you that speak French? Lol . . . ), but once he leaves I'll have a few weeks before school starts to do much, much hanging out. (Tiffany, when are you coming up to visit?).
Happy Birthday to Tiffany, btw, and a belated birthday to Alice!
