How To Make A Crappy-Shitty Day Better
Feb. 9th, 2006 12:03 amToday was sort of a crappy-shitty day until I found out my one famous ancestor, William Penn's secretary James Logan-- who we know owned not only the most extensive scientific library of his time and was a brilliant young genius (guess where I get it ^_^)-- was the first person to be treated with electrotherapy. He suffered a stroke in the last year of his life, and his left leg was paralyzed. Benjamin Franklin had a theory that stimulating it with electrical shocks/pulses would perhaps cause it to regain its function, so he tried his experimental treatments on James Logan. They failed, and James Logan died a year later. However, his daughter (or granddaughter-- I don't really remember) married into the Laird family, and my mom is a Laird ^_^
My Psychology professor is extremely fond of Benjamin Franklin, you see. I wonder if he will think more highly of me, knowing I carry the blood of someone who touched his idol, lol . . . :-P
How many times have you heard a lecture about your ancestors?
