So-- Florida!

I think I'll just go by in a schedule; that way, everything is just a little bit more organized, lol . . .

Friday, 12/30

At late afternoon-ish, Tiffany came over for a bit, having driven over the night before and stayed in a hotel with her mom and sister. We hung out and made potato soup (and I burned myself, and Tiffany made fun of me, and I threw repeatedly pot holders at her), and it was good, yes, lol . . .

Then she left for a brief period for dinner, while I ate (and I think she ate, but she just didn't want potato soup, because it was healthy, lol . . . ). Then, at 6:00, I was picked up by her mom, officially, and we drove over to Jessica's, and picked her up, too. The poor girl had already been in the car for 13 hours that day, driving back from North Carolina . . .

Anyway, we were still a lively bunch: We picked up munchies (yes, Tiffany ran through the store screaming "munchies"-- or maybe it just seemed that way to me, late at night, sensitive to the loud noises and the self-consciousness of being in public, lol . . . ) and roleplayed our von Brandt characters (as always-- just like on the way to New York, lol . . . ahh, we needed some of those gummy bears to play with in the light of the semis behind us, lol . . . someone following us did have really bright lights, too, lol . . . ), and chatted long and hard about everything from childhood discipline (Tiffany vs. The Wooden Spoon O.o) to rear-end zits (yes, come on, everyone gets them-- yes, you-- and the sooner we all admit it the sooner we can move on to more appropriate things, lol . . . ).

Saturday, 1/31

We drove until about 1:00 in the morning-- to Tiffany's parents' house, in Owensboro, Kentucky. We turned down the sheets and were out until the early hours of the morning, upon which awakening to we were wacky for a couple hours and then settled down for a day of doing nearly absolutely nothing except watch about eighty hours of Ballroom Bootcamp (one of Tiffany's favorite shows-- in marathon) and some random snippets of Animal Planet-- the shopping penguin, and the shopping dog from South Bend (now that was cool! Lol . . . )!

Jamie, Krissa, and Rosie (Krissa's friend) showed up (mildly late) that evening, and we went to one of those Japanese restaurants, like Hanayori's, where they cook the food in front of you in a big show. I had never been to one, and it was awesome. It reminded me of Japan-- the meat place, the place we went to on the last night-- and then I got all sentimental because it was coming back to me, and Michael's coming in tomorrow (now time, not then time, lol . . . ), to add to everything on top of that ^_^

Sunday, 1/1

We celebrated New Year's rather quietly, but funly (is fun-ly a word? I think not, lol . . . ). I made a SIMs 2 family of a family in my WWII Japanese Internment Camp Story-- that I didn't get to play with, lol-- and Jamie did hair and makeup for everybody (except Jessica, who wouldn't even after being bodily dragged, lol . . . ), just randomly for fun. As we were on Central time at that point, I called everyone who was on Eastern time (which was mostly everyone I knew, except for myself and those present among me, and Lisa), which included my parents, Kristina, Nichole, Patricia-- and the only person I got ahold of was Keith, lol . . .

Which leads to an interesting conundrum/observation: I have not talked to Keith since last year, but he has talked to me within this year. That is weird to think about, isn't it? Lol . . .

I managed to get Lisa, however, at midnight (for both of our times, lol . . . ), but not before I had said the traditional lucky "Rabbit Rabbit Rabbit!" phrase for good fortune within the coming new year, and Happy New Year, and cracked a cracker (for the first time in my life! 1/1/2006! Woohoo!!! Lol . . . ), containing a red hat (which I traded with Jessica for a pink one, because she refused to wear pink, lol . . . ), a red, festive (yes, these were for Christmas, lol . . . ) ponytail holder, and a paper with jokes on it. Jamie had a butterfly which showed up everywhere, including the outside stairs of our condo and down her shirt-- and Tiffany took a picture of it, guess where, lol . . .

I managed to break (well, just bend-- they're still wearable, but annoying, lol . . . ) my glasses while talking to Lisa and scuffling to pose for New Year's pictures with our glasses of champagne-reminscent ginger ale. However, the pictures are worth it, if Tiffany remembers to send them to me or Jessica, and, most importantly, gives us the rights to them-- for I suspect she may merely leave out all but those which are of us alone, without her in them, lol . . . :-P

There is a great shot of her in there looking positively drunk with her crown and four glasses of ginger ale, lol . . .

So, then, yes, we piled into the car at about 1:40 am, and started driving.

What a drive.

Yeah, the day is not over yet.

We drove forever and a day, mostly trying to sleep, and me being unsuccessful, lol . . . Then we arrived there, and it was warm and we were happy, lol . . . We mostly just vegged out.

After all, we had to wake up at 6:00 the next morning for DisneyWorld.

Monday, 1/2

We did just that.

. . . and guess what (earmuffs, Robert)? The irritating pressure that was in my abdomen all vacation thus far came to a head, and I had my period-- the worst day-- on the day we first went to DisneyWorld. I fear I may have complained a lot little, but I didn't prevent anyone-- or even myself, honestly, lol-- from going on any rides-- in fact, I liked it better on rides, when I could sit down . . . and there was this one drop on Space Mountain that made my inner organs feel as if they flew out of my body, and that felt really nice . . .

We did Space Mountain twice, the sort of tour-the-place ride around Tomorrowland, the spinning cars on top of everything (that went waayyy too fast, and Tiffany and I had the controls, so, of course, we made it boring, lol . . . sorry, Jessica and Jamie!). Tiffany and I did a *boring* (educational) ride on the symbiosis of land and living creatures, and got a tour of the experimental greenhouses of Epcot, lol-- which I found rather interesting in a mild way, but Tiffany hated, lol . . .

We ate turkey legs of doom, lol . . .

The parade was really cool. Though we missed the fireworks, we got front seats at the parade. Prince Charming was freaking hot, as was Peter Pan. Jessica got winked at by a fish. Tiffany got hit on by a wheelchair (well, she had been complaining about wanting one all day, lol . . . ).

Tuesday, 1/3

We had a chill day following all that business. However, Lynda-With-A-Y, the realtor for the condo place, had an offer for free lunch and tickets to Arabian Nights, this show nearby like Medieval times, so we had to wake up early. After that, however, it was chill time at the pool. I don't think I got really much of a tan, though, lol . . .

Wednesday, 1/4

DisneyWorld again! This time, I felt better, so I had a better time. We went to Animal Kingdom first, to get the animals at their peak. It was great timing-- not only did we have a really hot safari driver, who noticed our matching shirts (we all wore our "solemnly swear" shirts ^_^)-- and recognized our literary reference-- and made comments directly at us, but every animal was out, it seemed, from the kudos to the lions (AWAKE!!!) to the rhinos that crossed our path immediately as we crossed it, lol . . .

We decided Jessica's corresponding Disney princess is Jane. She goes off into the wild to learn about the interesting animals, and to draw them-- and then is distracted by a hot man-beast, lol . . . :-P

Which leads me to the one thing that really bothers me about DisneyWorld. Why are some Disney heroines so underrepresented? It's mostly the ethnic ones, too-- which I'm surprised they haven't been sued for-- but it's always the same little bunch: Cinderella (always at the fore-- she is neither the first, nor the *best*-- I believe it may merely be the weird Japanese obsession with her; why bother making something different for both countries if they don't care in America, and they do care in Japan?), Snow White, Aurora, Belle, sometimes Ariel, sometimes Jasmine (yea, one ethnic princess, lol . . . ) . . . It's supposed to be the "princesses," but, well, Pocahontas is more of a princess than Cinderella; she was born one, rather than just marrying into one. Do not even try to feed me the line about her not being a princess because she's from some foreign, non-princess culture; Jasmine could be applied to the same thing, lol . . .

I mean, what about Mulan? She has always been-- and will probably always be-- my favorite, and I like the justice that Esmeralda stands for. Pocahontas is good. Megara's a little off the beaten path, but the man-hating girls need someone to look up to :-P and Jane just gets forgotten because she was, well, the last of the great golden age of Disney films, lol . . .

Yeah, yeah, I get it; girls want white girls who clean and wear pretty dresses. Whatever. Pssh. Don't try to tell me they're not still trying to turn us into the '30s ideal, lol . . .

We saw the fireworks this time-- though the park closed two hours earlier than we thought! So that was sad )-:

So we went home and played "May I?" a card game which, like most, I am no good at. I only played the last two rounds and I lost spectacularly enough that I was tied with several others for losing high-points, lol . . .

Thursday, 1/5

Both Michael and Mr. Lent's birthdays, lol-- and another relax day ^_^

We definitely very much vegged. It was all watching movies; I finally watched Madagascar and My Big Fat Greek Wedding, and part of a bootleg copy of Fun With Dick and Jane that whoever rented out the condo before us had left accidentally in the DVD player, lol . . .

We went to Arabian Nights, which was cool-- very nice horse work. Tiffany and I were concerned about this one act, though, where they made it look like a member of the audience had come out to ride a horse, split her pants, and then ran, thoroughly embarrassed, out of the ring and out of our sight off to what seemingly appeared to be the bathrooms. It set Tiffany and I quite off our dinners; we didn't think it was funny, at all, because we had thought that had been a real girl in the audience! O.o

We then went home and played Cranium. Though Jamie, Jessica, Tiffany, and I suck at spelling backwards--lol-- we still won both rounds ^_^

I think by the end of it all, however, I was a little over-tired, and a little overwhelmed with dealing with everyone for so long-- we all were at our various stages of disrepair, from monthly cycles to sickness to just general over-tiredness-- and it sort of came to a head that evening, but I was okay afterward-- though I did feel like a weak or oversensitive bitch, somehow . . .

Even with that aside, however, I still don't think I like competitive games. I've always hated their objectivity; I always liked the game of pretend, better-- the open-ended, from House vs. Duck Duck Goose to SIM-type products vs. Games With A Goal (lol . . . ). Also, I'm nastily competitive. Neil's a terribly bad sport, and, well, I figure I'm probably just the same, and, so, well, I just avoid it all, instead of coping with it. Team games are better than one-on-one games, as are games with skill and creativity rather than just plain dumb luck-of-the-draw luck, and I still stand by the Japanese tenet that the best game in the world ends in a tie, and the value of the game lies in the team rather than in the individuals and in the winning.

After that, however, Tiffany, Jessica, and I went out on the lanai and drew for a long while. Ahh, von Brandt plotting and artistry and such ^_^

Friday, 1/6

I flew home this morning and got in on time and all right, safe and sound, and the rest is history ^_^

Overall, a great little vacation, getting to be with the group of friends all together again, just like back in high school ^_^ only with more random stuff to do, like, um, DisneyWorld? Lol . . .

Woot! ^_^

So, if you enjoyed the rides at Disney World, surely you would enjoy Six Flags (which we eventually will go to)! Yay for amusement parks!
