Time-Wasting
May. 25th, 2007 11:13 pmUp at the lake for Memorial Day, so the phone doesn't work. (Grr, cell phone . . . )
This is all quiz fluff. More interesting stuff can be found at my entry about PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: AT WORLD'S END.
1. What is your favorite board game? I don't really actually like board games that much. They involve competition and a clear winner or loser. This makes me sound unbearably fragile, but I find competition too stressful for something that's supposed to be fun. (And always have-- that's why at my 6th birthday party, I demanded we play no organized party games involving a winner or loser!). That said, I prefer games that are more subjective interaction-oriented, like Pictionary, Cranium, Scattergories, or Apples to Apples (which takes on a life of its own when played with Suspicious of Whistlers, lol . . . ).
2. What is your favorite card game? Hmm . . . I like card games even less. I just never learned many of them, and my lack of motivation to learn prevents remedying that. I basically know Blackjack, Gin, BS, and Go Fish. Oh, and War. (Yes, I do not like-- and do not even know-- Poker, Texas Hold 'Em, or Euchre, and, no, I do not want you to teach me, sorry . . . ). Go Fish is a classic. Don't knock it, lol . . .
3. Do you like to play games on the computer or on a gaming system? I do far too much on computers anyway to do much in the way of computer games anymore. I used to be obsessed with The Sims (I refuse to have either Sims or Sims 2 in my possession anymore, because it's that life-consuming-- Lisa saw me over Spring Break, lol), and other Sim games, like SimCity. I also liked American Girl Plays (you made a little play production with American Girl characters) and the Rockett series Adventure Maker (not the actual games, just the creative "maker," lol . . . ). Notice the pattern: You can't WIN any of these games. They just go on forever, and all involve creative skill.
As far as video games go, we never had a gaming system in our house. So I am very behind everyone in terms of skills with my thumbs, so I don't much like classic games on Playstations and X-Boxes and such. I am really a big fan of the Wii, though, as I am on a level playing field with everyone, and some of the games-- like WiiSports and WarioWare-- are creative in their format and good in a group. I also like Guitar Hero and sometimes DDR-- once again, not-so-classic controller, so I feel less incapacitated.
4. If so, what is your favorite game to play? (Just read the rant above, lol . . . )
5. Do you like to play games with people or to play them alone? It depends. I need other people for the board games, obviously, but computer games I prefer to do alone, because, well, you can't do most of them with other people. As for video games, I like other people as long as we are working together, not competing against each other. (Aka: Guitar Hero, I play Cooperative, never Head-to-Head).
I am a sap, sap, sap :-P Good thing I've finally seen that movie, now, lol . . .
18/20, that's pretty darn good; it's an A! (They made us memorize them in 5th grade . . . )
Tomorrow, I will probably put on a swimsuit for the first time this year, and, if I'm awake in time and there's wind/the conditions are right-- and they hold it (they're not stupid, after all; if I can see there's no wind, they can, too, lol), I may very well sail the Memorial Day Regatta.
