So . . . J.K. Rowling has decided to kill off two different characters.

I don't like this. I really don't like this. I am not exhilirated or intrigued at all; I am only nervous. When dealing with a series-- a series playing heavily upon the themes of Fate, with a Prophecy and everything--you have to write as you always planned to write all along (she's not supposed to she herself break the binds of fate, even if her characters are fated to!).

So that means Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Draco, are no longer safe. I don't even know where to begin with my plot theories . . .

She says she regrets being able to make even more changes, for she "wrote herself into a corner" on a lot of things. Well, good.

She said she had the book-- the series-- entirely planned out. Why wreck with something so finely-tuned, worked upon for more than ten years-- why throw it all away at a spur-of-the-moment fit of nervousness (and grief that it is almost over)? She's like a bride with cold feet. She's going to regret not staying true to herself and her own plans.

The worst part was when she said she could totally understand the authors who feel the need to kill off their protagonist to prevent the fanfiction writers from getting at him. Now, killing off Harry because he sacrfices himself as a Horcrux is one thing, if it suits the plot, but killing him reasonlessly (an abomination, which would suggest evil wins the epic battle!)-- or using the Horcrux plot for the wrong reasons-- is thoroughly selfish and despicable! I might have to kill her after the 7th book comes out. You know . . . cuz we won't need her anymore, after all :-P (lol that's terrible . . . )

I thought she said she liked fanfiction writers? Oh-- she's worried about some of them writing sequels that get published? Why does she care? Nothing ever beats out the original. Is it the money? She's worth more than the Queen! Good God!

HARRY POTTER: For being a Horcrux, and sacrificing himself.
LORD VOLDEMORT: For being the bad guy, and not really alive anyway.
SEVERUS SNAPE: They vowed to kill him. Plus, he also has to redeem himself. Honestly, I don't understand anyone who believes he's going to live past the end of the last book. He just can't (he better not be the character that gets a reprieve, grr . . . ).
DRACO MALFOY: He might die to redeem himself, too. However, I think living redemption might be better suited for him (particularly if Lucius dies).
PETER PETTIGREW: He owes Harry his life.
BELLATRIX LESTRANGE: She can't just go back to Azkaban again; how anti-climactic.
LUCIUS MALFOY: He always can't just go back to Azkaban; also, his death might enable Draco to redeem himself (if he dies, however, Draco must live).

(keep in mind, however, BELLATRIX LESTRANGE and LUCIUS MALFOY may not actually count as "deaths." They are small, and by "evil" members of society. I mean, when we talk about the "death" in Book 5, it's always Sirius, singularly, and never Broderick Bode or Avery. Dumbledore's death in Book 6 certainly overshadows Emmeline Vance and Amelia Bones, and whatever random Death Eaters fell in the Battle of the Tower.

Reasons for some of those not on the Death List:
RON WEASLEY: He's got Hermione. Less of a death-seeming best friend, now, too, at this point. It would have made more sense earlier on, actually.
HERMIONE GRANGER: She's got Ron.
ANY WEASLEY: They've been blighted far too often, and J.K. Rowling pities Mrs. Weasley (look at her fears!).
RUBEUS HAGRID: He was one of my earlier theories, but he's fallen out of the limelight, and so his death would be just unnecessarily sad!
REMUS LUPIN: He's got Tonks. I thought Peter might kill him with his silver hand, but J.K. Rowling's personally nixed that one.
NYMPHADORA TONKS: She's got Remus. She's also young and has a relatively small role, and so it would be rather pointless.

NEVILLE LONGBOTTOM is up for grabs, depending on how the other deaths fall.

Oh . . . it's hailing outside, now. I've incurred the wrath of the Rowling-gods O.o . . .

Edit (3:58): Ha ha, my horoscope for today: You're stuck in the middle of warring parties, like a river unhappily dividing rival camps. There's not much you can do besides keep the two sides at a comfortable distance. Wait for them to simmer down.

Could explain the bitch-slap-a-thon at Erin's journal, and even the lovely conversation I had to dictate from Tiffany to Keith (since, ironically, they did not chat :-P):

Keith: We should have a chat with Tiffany.
Me: Oh dear. I don;t know what kind mood she is in.
Keith: Eh. Nevermind.

Me: Keith wanted to chat with you.
Tiffany: Ha. I'd probably chomp off an eyeball or a testicle or something.
Me: Chomp? You're going to bite his balls?
Tiffany: I dont know. Maybe.
Me: You know, he might be into that.
Tiffany: Hmm. Maybe we should just be sex partners and nothing else.
Me: You and Keith?
Tiffany: Sure. Anger + good sex = happiness.

Me: *sends Keith that portion of the conversation.*
Keith: She think I'm that easy?
