As far as the big bang theory goes -- has anyone out there ever actually seen anything be created (intelligently designed) by blowing something up? It's hard to believe that anyone of even normal intelligence could actually believe that something as complex as human life (or even animal life for that matter) could ever be created by blowing something up.

This letter is in response to Mr. Larry Kluth from Mesa, Ariz., concerning the morality of the U.S. today ( "Religion hasn't led to morality," People's Forum, May 3). I agree with Mr. Kluth in that "religion" has not led to morality in this country. And that is because "religion," as we Christians refer to it, is not being "Christian." Religions were formed by people who wanted to do their own thing. They did not want to follow the teachings of Christ. They wanted to add to, take away or change Christ's teachings to whatever suited how they thought they wanted to live their lives.

The Bible is not just another book. Many of the happenings in it have been scientifically proven. Religions on the other hand, have so many different versions of what they think is right, that it's no wonder that so many people are confused, disillusioned and leery.

I suspect that something terrible must have happened to Mr. Kluth some time in his life to make him so against God and for that my heart goes out to him because one day he'll have to answer to God for that. And in the mean time he will not live a fulfilled life on this earth.

He's so right about the mess this country is in right now, but it's because people have gotten away from Christianity.

He's also right in that we are all related. Because of this, God loves everyone and, if you're a true follower of Christ, you love everyone. Believe me, in this day and age, some people make it very difficult to follow this practice.

Solving our own problems "on our own" will create billions of people doing things billions of different ways. There is no peace or unity in that.

Just look at all the war, famine, earthquakes, hurricanes, etc., going on now. The Bible clearly states that these are the signs of Jesus coming again. Are we ready?

Ahh, it's good to be home again . . .

PS: Indiana seems to be a favorite butt of jokes. That's two stand-up comedians within the course of a week I have heard bash Indiana. One even bashed South Bend, in particular . . . I definitely had to look at the bottom of the screen and assure myself that this was indeed Comedy Central I was watching, and not some local channel that would actually talk about South Bend, and not just use it as a synonym for "Nowhereland."

You know, not that it isn't a synonym, anyway . . .
