Going to Hell in a Handbasket

tabular_rasaThe only time I do well athletically is when I'm angry. The first (and only) time I went under 1:10 in the 100 freestyle in swimming was when I was broiling myself up with hatred and anger at how Lindsey and Lauren had treated me all season. So today I went skiing, and crossed the wake (which I've only done once) like whoa, and quickly, and kept pulling on the rope really hard and pushing so that I came forward up next to the boat, beside it . . . and then I almost slalomed, standing up on one ski and thinking about dropping it, trying to get my balance . . . but I couldn't and so I decided against it, because I wavered, but I managed to correct it, so that's how good I was tonight . . . and I'm STILL sore from that sunburn/tubing soreness incident, lol . . .
Then I took a boat ride and helped Dad take down the flag (which was actually my idea, noticing that it was past sunset) and cover the boat.
Oh, on the subject of how life has been sucking for today . . . the country has gone to Hell. They're proposing another flag-burning-banning amendment . . . for goodness's sake . . .
I really hate this disillusionment I have with my country. I'm like Andy in my story: I like everything America stands for, but I hate the way it's exercised in this country. Flag-burning is counterproductive. So is that thing they just passed where your house can be seized by the government not only for government projects but for businesses that want your land, too, if they choose to take it up with the courts . . .
That, and PBS is in the process of being removed! )-: I should write in (I already signed the online petition) and give a sob story about how I'm only an Honors diploma student with a 3.85 GPA (or whatever the hell it is) going on to college because I learned my ABCs early on Sesame Street, and subsequently learned to read early, and, hence, learned the value of a good education-- early. They take that away, and we're all stupid! Not to mention taking away Mr. Rogers . . . he's our psychologist! We can't lose him! He makes us feel loved! We need his reruns! We need his love!
Plus . . . God, the Republicans are really loving their monopoly. Let's knock abortion, they say. Oh, and while we're at it, let's ban flag-burning and deny rights to gays (or anyone else a wee bit different, because, whoa, they're WEIRD, and that's . . . um . . BAD . . . ) and blow things up in foreign countries because, oh, that's fun. Anything they've had bugs up their butts about for years is coming up.
I swear . . . the PBS thing is only because Buster visited a lesbian family once. That's what it's all about, lol . . .
I really can't wait for the reaction period to all of this . . .
Anyone ever consider that flags maybe like to be martyred for worthy causes? If I were a flag, I'd burn myself in protest of some of these things, including the denial of the right of myself to burn.
Oh-- and I also hate putting words into the mouths of dead people. Stating that the people who died in the World Trade Center would have supported a flag-burning amendment (or even a war) is not only disrespectful, it's probably quite false.
If I ever die in a terrorist attack, or anything, really, don't wreak revenge on my behalf. I'm so serious. Quote me on it. Send my story throughout the world. Shine me as a beacon of forgiveness.
Isn't that what it's supposed to be about, anyway? I think some guy named Jesus who the Republicans are always championing said something about that, somewhere . . . I don't know, maybe it was in that one book they want used instead of science books . . . you know . . . that one . . .
I'm terrible, I know . . . but I have a point.
