Who's the only white girl in the Japanese Club?

(That being said . . . why aren't there any scholarships for Caucasian girls taking Asian languages? Affirmative action should sort out that minority, too, shoot . . . lol, here, most of the students of Japanese are of Korean, Chinese, or Japanese-non-native-speaker background, and, of the Caucasians, girls are outnumbered by boys by at least 3 to 2, I think . . . lol . . )

Yeah . . . well . . . at least I'm not the only straight-up GIRL anymore. The girls next to me liked my socks, the kitty ones with the bows, the fluffy ones that keep my feet warm, that Mom and Dad sent me in a package ^_^

Japanese Club sounds like fun . . . they're planning sushi nights (or even homecooking nights, which should be awesome, reminiscent of meals with the Sakais, a little more intimate than the restaurant fare . . . heehee, I remember my retarded gyouza that took me forever to make, while Yoko and Mrs. Sakai whipped off like seven perfect ones in the time it took me to fold one ugly-assed one, lol . . . ), movie nights (and not just anime, too, which is refreshing . . . since there is Anime Club for that, after all, lol . . . ), special scheduled dinners in Center Court where we can all practice our Japanese in a non-threatening situation (lol ^_^ no "CCs" there, yeah!), hook-ups with the kendo, DDR (yeah, we have a DDR Club . . . who knew? Lol . . . ), and taiko clubs, and even a tea ceremony in the spring.

I also tried Bubble Tea (or "Boba") for the first time. That stuff is weird. It's good, in a way, mind you . . . but weird.

I feel a little bit better about Japanese if I can speak it, there. I only wish the teachers could see me then.

Which reminds me-- did you know, they just sent me a rather nasty letter (no, not me PERSONALLY, but still . . . ). They're like "THOSE OF YOU WHO SPEAK JAPANESE, STOP USING IT IN CLASS!!! YOU HAVE TO FORGET EVERYTHING YOU KNOW AND START OVER!!!" . . . as if that's possible. Now, I don't show off, but if something slips in there, you know, if you KNOW something, you can't just forget it!!! Then, they go on to say, "THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE NEVER TAKEN ANY JAPANESE BEFORE, THIS CLASS IS FOR YOU. THE OTHERS HAVE NO RIGHT TO MAKE YOU FEEL INTIMIDATED. IN FACT, MOST OF THEM SUCK, AND YOU ARE DOING BETTER THAN THEM."

Yeah, thanks. I already knew you hated me. You don't have to rub it in.

I felt really depressed in class, today, consequentially-- even more so than usual. I had a vague flirtation with the idea of becoming Buddhist. Among other things, you strive to stop having desire. I figured: If I stop desiring to get an A, then I won't care when I fail this fucking class. I'll just slip into apathy. I think that's half my problem anyway, trying too hard . . . it is for most of the (oddly, and this is going to be a generalization) white kids, anyway; we're so into this we like leap up and down the second they call on us, desperate to prove we can speak it, and that we know it, and that only gets us marked down, because it slows our response time to perk up and smile and recover from the gasp of intake of breath we take from our excitement. The others just sit cooly back and rattle stuff off. I want it too badly.

Sadly, though, wanting and desiring are part of being passionate. I can't just NOT be passionate. It's my leading adjective. It's my driving force. To lack passion would to be to succumb to apathy, and I HATE apathy. I abhor it. I'd die if I were Buddhist, really, I think.

Maybe that's why people are "buried Buddhist" in Japan. You don't become Buddhist until you are ready to die, and lose your feeling anymore.

So then I went back to the *committing seppuku* fantasy.

At least Improv cheered me up like whoa. We only had five people there today, so we just did a "Montage" (aka, whatever the heck comes to mind)-- three of them, actually-- and they were all funny as hell, drawing back on each other, even, not just the individual montage. Some themes included: slash fanfiction, mythical beasts on famous documents (The Declaration of Independence, aka "The Independence," according to Peter, lol, The Ten Commandments, the . . . flag?) that represent destruction of various sins (dragons burn women who abort children, centaurs axe retarded children, gryphons eat adulteresses, or something like that, lol . . . ), an awful lot of fading off into "fishing" scenes . . . which basically meant no one cut early enough, so the default was to turn to fishing, lol . . . and then, at one point, we all became fish ^_^ Grease, Danny giving Sandy (from Grease) roofies in her pepsi and doing her "Kangaroo-Style," while Coca-Cola merged with RC Cola to make a roofie-heavy drink to boost sales. A lot of people got raped. A lot of babies got aborted (and their mothers burned . . . by dragons, no less . . . ). A lot of cancer-stricken and retarded children were axed (by centaurs), electrocuted, or incinerated. Super Dave saved some of them. Super Bob just got burned.

I even got to be Professor Snape in one. He slipped Harry and Ron some RC Cola, and therefore became More Evil Than The Dark Lord. Buckbeak murders anyone who participates in *slash* relationships, too, by the way, lol . . .

It was probably our most controversial rehearsal yet, lol . . . though it was golden.

Oh, by the way . . . I did get Wicked tickets, after waiting in line for an hour and five minutes . . . $20 and SO MUCH TIME, but it ought to be worth it, lol . . . I hope Lisa can go. She'll have to go way before me, and neither one of us will see it WITH the other, but at least we'll see it ^_^

I have a paper to write before tomorrow, lol . . . I better get cracking on that.

Jessica is learning to sodomize livestock. This really cracks me up. Lol, I thought Andrews was supposed to be a nice, Christian college, lol . . . *snorts*
