Today was odd.

I spent the first two class hours of school working the blood drive. Some guy from the career center came and interviewed Andrew and I-- because Andrew asked him to, lol (though, now I wish he hadn't . . . )-- about working at the Canteen and giving blood, and whether we were. I was planning to, of course.

I handed out a lot of food. I thought I was quite efficient, but the moms who came to help could be quite overbearing at times, and, well, I sort of started to resent them and I hope I didn't make them feel bad. I saw two people throw up and had to ring the emergency bell, and ring it once for someone who was just faint. Someone started crying, too, and this all just made me a little queasy and worried about the whole thing.

I went back to 3rd hour and wrote down a few court cases casually, and then didn't go to lunch-- the English class (our other half ^_^) had a pizza party, and we came down and joined them, and got our own pizza. I gave Nichole the Nutri-grain bar I had brought her from the Canteen, since she hadn't been able to give blood, since she's anemic. It was fun.

Then I went back to class for a moment and was called down for the blood drive. I went down and read the policies and got my little red "Give Blood" bracelet (like the "Livestrong" bracelets and etc . . . ), and then they took me back to get my information. They did the iron test, which hurt when it pricked my finger, but then it came back 36% instead of the necessary 38%; I have an iron efficiency. I didn't get to give blood! I was so disappointed . . . I got a little weepy, and then I felt dumb. They gave me a nice little list of foods that are full of iron, so I just stared at that to hide it.

I got one of those "Be Nice To Me! I Tried To Give Blood Today!" stickers, and I went over to the Canteen for a little bit and ate some food to make myself feel better. Joey said he wasn't feeling well and was going to get an appointment later, and I should do the same. Maybe I will, after I eat myself sick and crazy of legumes, peas, and meat.

In 4th hour, Sociology, a kid passed out. He hadn't given blood since 2nd hour or something, but it still kicked in then. It was weird. Other than that, we cut out pictures from magazines that represented American "culture." I got the usual: a man saying the Pledge of Allegiance a wedding picture, a house decorated for Christmas, material goods like TVs, phones, and cars in rush hour traffic . . . and then my two favorites, the picture of Uncle Sam waving star-spangled banners and jumping off a cliff, and a picture of an Arab-American gazing sadly at his shot-up window post-Septmeber 11th (ahh, the joyful American custom coupling guns, xenophobia, racism, warmongering, and stereotyping)-- that particular magazine pissed me off, the one right post-September 11th, dated like September 24th, 2001. It was terrible; so angry.

I had gotten a note about a package (specified "CDs") while getting my blood NOT taken (wasn't good enough for them . . . grr . . . ). I was so confused, but then I got down there and was handed three CDs, the mixes Jamien ([livejournal.com profile] oddwhiteguy) had promised to send me, stuff he played on his radio thing I could never get to work on my computer-of-the-devil! Lol . . . it was through school. It made me feel loads better, just another odd thing to my day, only this time it was a nice one ^_^

Orchestra was, well, Orchestra. Does it ever change? Ever?

I took a Psychology test after school and Mrs. Fuller gave me a chocolate-covered creme-filled doughnut (do you spell it doughnut or donut? I prefer the former . . . ) just because she happened to have a couple of extra from something. Hey, I'm not complaining.

I came home and listened to the CDs. [livejournal.com profile] oddwhiteguy, you have made myself and my sister very happy. She about had an orgasm when she heard "The System is Down," and I actually do know a lot of the songs, and those that I don't are still fun. ^_^ Ahh . . . such techno and DDR music of the likes of which I have not had great exposure to since my time in Japan . . . and plenty I know (The Beethoven's 5th remix that I think I've heard at Jessica's, the Whistle Song, Dream a Dream, aka Dance in the Hall of the Mountain King) lol, good stuff. I <3 you, Jamien . . .

Then Tiffany called and she and I had the weirdest conversation of our life. However, know this: She WILL be playing the YHO concert on my birthday. She HAS to. It is the last YHO concert. It is her SENIOR CONCERT. She will get a gift. Also, and most importantly, it is on my BIRTHDAY, and I want her there. So . . . everyone go guilt [livejournal.com profile] tarmetiel into doing this. Tiffany, I TOLD you I would take drastic measures. I will talk to Dr. Inglefield if he doesn't want to let you; he still likes me after since I told Marcia Fulmer off ^_^

It didn't help that she didn't even remember when my birthday IS, either, lol . . .

Dang . . . I still can't believe she said that (SHE knows what I'm talking about), when she KNEW that would happen. Thanks for screwing that up, Tiffany. *Makes feel more guilty.*

Lol, I still love you, Tiffany . . . it's just . . . "I'm not used to being the dominant one! Wow!" LOL . . . yeah, that sounded wrong . . . We are still geniuses, you know ^_^

So, finally, I discovered just why I have an iron deficiency. Yeah . . . looks like all my iron was being stockpiled for my lovely little "monthly blood donation." So that's annoying. At least it makes me feel better, like I don't have anemia or something . . .

PS: I got accepted to Washington University ^_^

Glad to hear you like the CDs. Shame you've been unable to tune in to the show, but at least you can listen to the eccentric half of the music that's played. Keep an eye on your... wherever you check for stuff at Central. I'll be sure to hit you up w/future mixes next time I'm in town.

I'll see if I can talk my co-host into giving me his mixes, as well, so you'll have the complete show experience, minus the small talk after every other song.
