Joy: Yeah and Yay are both acceptable, but pronounced differently (Yeah is pronounced as in "affirmation", Yay is pronounced as in "joy"). Yeah is more general, Yay is more casual and, er, squeey. I checked the second because it's the one I'm most likely to use in that context.

Affirmation: Yeah, primarily. Yah sometimes, in casual typing (and is pronounced without the e in the other options). I checked the first because it's what I'd consider more generally correct.

I also offer the Minnesotan "ya" or "o-ya" for affirmation. Donchaknow!

Well then that starts the whole discussion of is it "Ya" or "Ja" since it's probably yoinked from Scandinavia?

I'm just browsing the community friends of INFJ, but I thought I'd contribute anyway.

It's "Yay!" and "Yeah." for me.

Well, I'll put myself in the pro-Ya camp; I think it's been standardized enough into conventional usage by people of Scandinavian and non-Scandinavian heritage alike that a more Anglicized spelling is probably justified.

Now, how one visually represents the Minnesotan "o" in all its splendor, glory, and adorableness is another question.

My friend Henry, who I noted in the comments, also spells it yea. But he's not on livejournal and can't take the poll. So you're not alone!
