This is totally unrelated, but what kind of activities did you do in holiday club? We're trying to plan a culture fest, and find ways to celebrate Japanese holidays in the Japan Matsuri general culture club...and immediately I thought of the amazingly wonderful creative and resourceful Akiko-sensei! Guess who is on yearly holiday brigade. 'tis my job to bring holiday culture to the club. So...I was curious as to what you did, since whatever you did worked. At least...I never heard complaints about holiday club in my uchi :x So yes, drop me a line or whatever.

^_^ This is what we did:
New Year (and New Year's Eve)-- mochi and karuta.
Howaito Dei and Valentine's Day-- thank-you cards to the sensei, along with chocolate for the cards AND the kids :-P
Hinamatsuri-- origami dolls (done on the same day as Kodomo no hi). There are patterns online.
Kodomo no Hi-- fish kites (done on the same day as Hinamatsuri). We did our simple paper ones with black-and-white fish printed on them to color in, but you could get fancy and do cloth ones if you wanted, I'm sure.
Tanabata-- learn the story of Tanabata, act it out together, and learn "tai" form to write wishes on cards to be hung on trees (or on a lattice inside the ginkou because it was raining, but that means your wish won't come true )-:).

Good luck!
