We just had a tornado!

Well-- not really. The only tornado (tornados?) that touched down was a few miles east of us. We had some crazy bad-ass storms, though; the rain was pouring, and it was positively eerie out! As I'm at the lake, we could see everything. In fact, as I was downstairs watching the local stations for weather updates at the bottom of the screen (leave it to today for our remote to go out, so that we cannot access The Weather Channel, just four or five random local access channels . . . ), my dad and little brother saw what they swore were funnel clouds-- like cloud-like stalactites dipping down lazily from the clouds drifting across the sky (EERIE!!!)-- just off to the north shore of the lake, meaning they had past us but that they were still present . . .

So we all went downstairs to the lower floor (we have no basement, at the lake-- but it is a walk-in, so I suppose the back of the lower level is basically like a basement, and basically anything is better than the upstairs which contains one wall which is solidly windows!) and basically watched the TV for updates. There was lots of lightning-- one particularly funny moment was when someone shot off a large, bright white ball firecracker high up above the lake, into the rain, and, just moments later, the storm responded with a brilliant flash of lighting just above their house . . .

In the end, the storms passed us, of course, but they did have some tornados nearby, and I suspect some more further on as the storm progresses onward across Michigan and perhaps even into Canada/Ohio. Oh well . . . it was exciting while it lasted!

I'm actually pretty upset I didn't get to see the funnel clouds! It would have provided a means for me to see tornados up close and personal, without being threatened by them!

Which leads to me to a similar meme (well, meme-sort-of-thing . . . ) which Kristina was working on earlier . . .

1) Become a cheerleader. FAILED (I wanted to do this when I was in kindergarten, okay? Lol . . . )

2) Be student of the month. FAILED in elementary school (where it really was actually prestigious and actually mattered, lol . . . ); ACCOMPLISHED in middle school (when it really didn't actually count, lol . . . I mean, I won the fucking Health Student of the Year award even though I was SICK for half of Health class!!!)

3) Be featured in an Elkhart Truth "Just Kids" article. Probably FAILED (I don't know what constitutes a kid anymore . . . O.o . . . )

4) Play a lead role in the 6th grade A Midsummer Night's Dream play. ACCOMPLISHED

4) Get a speaking role in one of the high school musicals. ACCOMPLISHED

5) Be invited to a Rotary meeting and be interviewed with the question: "What three (famous) people in history, dead or alive, would you most like to share one meal with?" ACCOMPLISHED

6) Graduate in (at least) the Top Twenty.

7) See a production of Romeo and Juliet. ACCOMPLISHED

8) Perform in a production of Romeo and Juliet.

9) Go to Japan. ACCOMPLISHED

10) Be one of those flippy-around girls in the beginning of a Bond movie.

11) Own a cat named Tybalt.

12) See Les Miserables on stage.

13) See a tornado, in person.

Obviously, there is more to life than just those goals. Those are just the fun ones. I also want to graduate from college, get married, publish a book . . .

You were in A Midsummer Night's Dream? Who did you play? We just did a production of it last term and I was Demetrius. :)

Oh, awesome! I played Helena (we'd be lovers! :-P). I had wanted to be Hermia, but I ended up loving Helena, so much better, because she's got more of a character to her (and I do well with sad/tragic/kind of pathetic characters, lol; if I could actually sing I think I'd make a good Eponine ^_^). I feel bad in the end her relationship is just the result of an unremedied love potion, though . . .

The last stop on the tour was St. Louis, where I am nine months out of the year except, of course, it's there the month I'm not actually in St. Louis. So that pissed me off . . . lol . . .

It's one of my favorite books and perhaps the only musical I've listened willingly to the soundtrack of before seeing (otherwise I just get so confused, lol, but I knew the story ^_^).

There was a storm here, too, last night O.o At 5:30 am lightning struck dangerously close to the house . . . It set off the smoke alarm, turned on Dana's "touch" light, and even woke Dana up immediately (which no human is capable of). I haven't been outside yet to see if it hit a tree or something, but it had to be really close.

For the first time in a year, I am semi-glad that I wasn't in Elkhart....

WHY on earth do you want to see a funnel cloud? I mean, seriously. Thats just diriculous.

It wasn't in Elkhart; everyone in Elkhart was completely safe as the storm didn't even hit Elkhart . . .

. . . to conquer my fears ^_^ . . .
