Birthday (A Little Early ^_^) Joys
May. 5th, 2006 09:24 pmI just had a wonderful night!
Today was generally pretty quiet. I didn't wake up until 12:30 or so O.o but, then, once I did, it was slow going: I rearranged my userinfopage on livejournal (Go look and go see it! Lol . . . ), and that was about it.
At about 3:00, Keith and I decided to go to Target at about 3:30 to pick up storage bins for packing. We each got a giant plum-colored 25-gallon bin. It took us an hour and a half (stupid shuttles, grr, lol . . . ) to get these, lol . . .
Then, we came back, and decided to wait to eat dinner with Patricia at 6:30/6:40 when Patricia got out of her review session . . . I was looking forward to eating ribs, there, at Bear's Den, because they were clearly serving them there as I had seen them there that day.
. . . yet, I got to eat something even better.
As we stepped outside to go to Bear's Den, when Patricia had called to say she had gotten out of her review session, Lisa shouted, "Now, guys!" and suddenly she's attacking me, as is Keith and Henry (though barely, lol-- Lisa made fun of them for being pansies about it :-P but, well, they didn't want to look as though they were raping me, lol-- though, well, as I have pointed out, WUPD will never save me now, after that false alarm, lol . . . ). I got a blindfold put over my eyes.
I was kidnapped, guys!!! This time, bona fide, lol . . .
At first I think this is a compulsion exercise, an intervention, something to keep me from going around the right side of poles, always, or something, lol . . . but then I realize this has got to be something better than that; my birthday is coming up, after all! Lol . . . so then they all walk me forward for a long ways-- and we wait for the shuttle.
So we were on the shuttle for a while, and I of course had no idea where we were going. They enjoying fussing with my head, keeping the blindfold on, and keeping me confused as to whether Henry and Patricia were really there on the shuttle with them, because only Keith and Lisa would put their hands on me (and I accidentally sat on Keith, once, upon on getting on board the shuttle, lol . . . ).
We get off, and walk for a while, and I'm quite convinced we're at the loop, as there are cars and such (and streets to be crossed) everywhere. People keep shouting out, "There's a tree!" or "Don't look!" or "No peeking, now!" to play along, which was awesome (I love people, aww ^_^)-- and made Lisa feel really awkward, but, well, oh well, lol :-P
So then we arrive at our destination, and I take off my blindfold. It's Seki's Japanese Restaurant, the place I always come with my parents when we're down here, with the really good food. I was so happy and I hugged everybody-- totally worth missing ribs!
(I also have discovered that Patricia and I both hate my Problems in Philosophy professor. In fact, it turns out, if we hadn't had our fight over philosophy-- prompted by him-- we would have been able to talk about all of our subjects this year in my Problems in Philosophy class and her Introductive to the Cognitive Sciences class. This also makes it all the more obvious why she agreed with him when we fought, etc-- it explains everything! Of course this really doesn't actually change much, but this just makes me feel all the more much more better now . . . )
I had tempura udon (my favorite), and we all had a few pieces of sushi-- though there was a mix-up about us only wanting one to share, and the waitress thinking we wanted one each, so, erm . . . yeah, that was kind of awkward, but it turned out okay (and, Patricia, like I said, I don't think she really hated you, particularly not personally; she's just a vivacious little Obaachan-- "grama"-- and she was 1) awkward about the mix-up, too, and 2) wasn't meaning to lecture you about your pronounciation of the food, etc; probably just wanted to teach you how to pronounce it so that you were sure you knew how to, etc . . . ). It was very delicious, and I had fun translating what the waiter/waitresses were saying as they walked past, in Japanese. I only said a few things actually in Japanese to anyone, though-- just "oishikatta desu"-- "that was delicious"-- and "arigatou gozaimashita">-- "thank you for that," etc . . .
We went to Ben and Jerry's, afterward, and Patricia, Lisa, and I picked up a cone each. I got Phish Food, my favorite-- and a little card-thingy for 10% off all my next ice-cream purchases for the year! I wonder if it was because it was my birthday . . . I dunno-- but Lisa is keeping it for over the summer, and then we are sharing it for next year, because, well, I will be gone for this summer and who else will use it (and we do not have a Ben and Jerry's around us, I do not think . . . )?
We took a walk back in the cool night air (Keith let me borrow his coat-- thank you, Keith!), along the alleyways behind the Loop, where the pretty houses are. It reminded me of Halloween, and just feel so nostalgic and happy and loving right now. This music is certainly helping, lol . . .
That was absolutely amazing guys. The kidnapping idea was so great (and, well, I do work well at being kidnapped, lol :-P)! Thank you!!! That will always be a great memory. I love you all so much!
