Research Paper and Fun Around It
This weekend has been *workonresearchpaper.* Yet it's actually been pretty fun, and I haven't totally only worked on the research paper to the point that this weekend has sucked.
For instance, I did laundry (woot! Highlight of the weekend, yo! Lol . . . ). Then, after a good three hours or so of full-out chunk working on my research paper, Patricia invited me downstairs to sing while she played on the piano (one of our fun pastimes ^_^), since she had found this great sheet music site to download music from (since we didn't just want to play "Hallelujah" and "White Flag," which was all we had before-- and the Evanescence that I like but Patricia hates, lol . . . ). Keith came along, down, too, and we sang for a while, and then Patricia left and I attempted to show off the Corpse Bride piano duet that I had learned over Spring Break, only I had completely forgotten it, so I made an utter fool of myself, lol-- but--sheet music site to the rescue!-- I was able to play it on the piano with the help of the sheet music. Then I taught Keith Heart and Soul.
Then, after trying to work on my research paper some more, Keith, Henry, and I went to dinner, after which we realized that we just really didn't want to work on our research papers anymore (particularly Henry, seeing as how he finished his last semester, lol :-P Oh, Lisa!), and so then we all just watched Anchorman. Then we went and found Lisa and ate ice cream as she ate her dinner. That was an amusing dinner. Ahh, I love everybody . . .
Afterwards, however, Danny pulled me aside to talk about a much more sobering issue, having to do with some drama in Improv (that had nothing to do with the stage). The whole thing's kind of confusing, but it began with a dramatic sort of snap/meltdown/breakdown confrontation that led to a walkout and a resignation-- with it bringing up a lot of issues that may or may not be confronted but should be, but may or may not be handled the best way that they could, I guess . . . it's weird, because I feel like I'm not particularly *involved* in any of it (only in the inherent way that one is affected by being part of a group involved in it), being as that I am really very laid-back when it comes to group dynamics and choices (believe it or not), but I've been receptive to it for most of the time. I liked that on Friday, at least, everyone got a chance to talk about things.
Lisa and I were invited to go watch Brokeback Mountain with-- a whole group of people, two fused groups I didn't really know interacted, actually, lol, the Linda/Molly/Mimi crowd and the Janice/Michelle crowd-- so that was nice.
The movie was . . . okay; I can't decide if I like it or not. I liked the last twenty minutes/half-hour best. It was very slow, going, at first (except for the initial moment of . . . consummation of love? . . . there was nothing, and then, BAM! *hotsexscene,* lol . . . ), and I really didn't like some of the plot. It's hard to be in favor of "love conquers all!"-- which I was expecting to be-- when the two lovers are destroying the lives of others around them by having wives and children and just devastating them with their relationship. I mean, I'm sure that says something about society, having them forced to be being in these unhappy situations, but, really, that undermined it a lot for me. Yet the ending was really good, the confrontation with the family, etc . . . it left a lot unresolved, but I feel like that was how it meant to be, and it fit with the mood, pace, and meaning of the movie.
Me: Ahh, Brokeback Mountain. Sort of weird movie-- very slow. The ending made it all worth it, though.
Keith: I think I'm gonna miss that one. Darn.
Me: Aww, come on; one scene was almost like gay porn!-- Not like I'd know.
Keith: Ew.
Me: Yeah. It was like "We're just cowboys." Then one night, they're just in the tent, and then . . . *BAMBUTTSEX.*
Edit (2:04 am): Would anybody be willing to walk with me to Walgreens sometime tomorrow? I just realize I have a soap- and qtip-lacking emergency, which I need to remedy right away. I can go alone, but I would just enjoy the company, and if anybody else needs anything, either . . . Also, even if you can't go, I can pick something up for you . . . ?
