Off to Europe!
Jun. 3rd, 2009 06:06 pmSo, I'm going to be out of the country and away from the lj for a little while. My family is taking a trip to Greece and France! We're sailing around the Cyclades in Greece, and then visiting the families of our three exchange students we've had the past few years while we're in Paris and vicinity.
Tomorrow is a hell of a long day. Starting about 1:00 pm, we're driving to Chicago (about 2 hours), and boarding a flight to Paris around 7:00 pm. After a 7-ish hour flight, we'll get to Paris. Then it's a 3-hour layover, but we have to use an hour and a half of it traveling across a big-ass airport to get to our terminal. Then it's another like 5-hour flight to Athens, and a bit of a hectic bus ride trying to get to our hotel (the Metro is shut down). I am going to be a zombie by the end of this longer-than-24-hour day.
We're exploring Athens on the first day, the Acropolis, etc, and then boarding our boat in the early evening. We'll stay in port that night, but then we'll just make our way around the islands, stopping for sightseeing, beaches, food, history, and culture.
We'll be on the boat for six days, and then we disembark and spend another night in Athens before flying back to Paris. We'll spend three days with Alex's family and three days with Thomas's, and I think we'll be visiting Versailles with Amaury's family.
I'll be back on the 19th, with plenty of stories and pictures to share!
