Home!

tabular_rasa: (Fuck!)
So I am finally home.

I left at 11:00 am (along with Michellanne, the co-last member of our suite to de-habitate it; we split a cab) for a 2:40 flight (it was a little early for me, but Michellanne's flight was at 1:00). I was lugging two massive suitcases, a laptop bag so filled to the brim that it couldn't even close, and a violin (useless for carrying anything else but itself). One bag was so heavy that I had to pay like $120 in overweight charges-- but, well, I had to get it all home. That was my room contained in two bags, aside from what I chose to store /-:

So I was told straight off, as I checked in, that my Chicago-South Bend connection was cancelled, and all other flights for the next two days were booked. So I was like fuck you, I'll just screw that part and go to my Grama's in Chicago (thank God I had gone through Chicago, and not freaking Cincinatti, like I often do O.o and that I had that option!). So I just sit in Chicago to wait for my one flight.

. . . which doesn't take off until 6:00 pm. I was in the airport for nearly 7 hours, just sitting in the same place, waiting (taking the occasional break for food or bathroom, which involved lugging my massive back and violin with me /-:).

I got in to Chicago about 7:30, and then had to take an hour-ish long cab ride out to Wilmette, where my Grama lives (Mom and Dad informed her I was coming, lol). I had a hell of a time just getting my bags out to the cab, crossing the street and such like they have that weird set-up for. I got to her place around 9:00-ish, I think, and we chatted for a little bit, set up a cot she had wheeled up for me, and then I took a brief bath while she went to bed. I slept kind of oddly, my back being so sore from lugging all that luggage (it's still sore O.o) and the cot having very exposed springs. However, Mom and Dad had already called to say that they were on their way to pick me up when I woke up at about 10:00 am. They arrived at about noon, we chatted for a little while, and then drove back. So it took me much more than 24 hours to get home /-: I just hope getting to Japan goes much more easily!

I have a lot of stuff to do while on break before I leave, from dentist, hair, and eye appointments to purchasing supplies and seeing lots of people (and I still don't have everyone's Christmas gifts O.o I think that's not happening until after Christmas for a lot of people /-:)-- and then just getting everything all packed up (and hopefully with less weight than I did just now O.o)!

I also got mailed a book to read about Kyoto's history before I arrive in Japan. I think that's going to be a good thing to read on the plane, lol . . .
