Memorial Day Weekend
May. 28th, 2007 07:49 pm( Alignment Meme )
I did some shopping for camp today: got some shorts (since I have none; I seem to either wear pants or skirts, lol)-- including a short blue plaid pair that I enjoy because they are comfy and show off my legs I am getting proud of from my leg exercises ^_^-- bug spray, etc . . . I also got a wristwatch on sale (with a nice pink leather band, so I don't look like a failed suicide attempt with my ribbon anymore-- and don't have the obnoxious velcro that ripped all my clothes, which I replaced with said ribbon, lol . . . ), a wind-up alarm clock, and a solar/crank-powered flashlight. I guess I'm only going to need batteries for my camera-- which is sort of a battery-whore. I need to get a bigger camera card in the next few days, too-- the last thing on my list-- as I only now hold about 60 pictures.
I wish I could bring the laptop with me to camp. It would be so useful to have for the like eight hours I have to sit in the Minneapolis airport between when I arrive (at about 7:45 in the morning) and when I have to catch the bus for Bemidji (at about 3:00 in the afternoon). (I then go on to ride the bus for six hours . . . O.o . . . I am going to get so sick of being alive, lol . . . ). Also, Michael says the computers are fought over, and so if I have my own with wireless access, I'll be good without needing to wait for one of the communal camp ones. Plus then I could continue to work on my story ^_^ I really sincerely doubt my dad will let me take it, though /-: It's times like these I really wish I had my own. I might have had a laptop if the ones they were selling back when I was buying them in July/August before college weren't taking advantage of the fact that every college student wants one by being so damn expensive! (I went for the cheap $299 eMachines desktop :-P).
Memorial Day weekend turned out okay. There was no Memorial Day Regatta, either day )-: but oh well; the weather was gross, cloudy, and pretty chilly for the first two days, anyway. Grama and Winston came up for the afternoon on Sunday, and it finally started to brighten up. We sat out on the pier and snacked, and then Dad made steaks. Today it was actually pretty gorgeous; it was warm enough for some brave folks to swim (like, um, crazy-ass Neil O.o). I woke up early and went skiing (my only chance before I leave for camp!)-- and it all came back to me, thankfully ^_^ though I felt like I was going to catch freaking hypothermia from the water, as it hasn't warmed up yet; my heart rate shot up and I started shaking, and, boy, was that motivation to get up on the first try! Lol . . . Later, I got wet again, this time on the waverunner, which hit a few of the plentiful Memorial Day weekend-waves-- one of which washed completely over me and was quite a bit of a shock! Lol . . .
Oh, boat radio stealer also must have stolen my Seafaring mix CD along with it. Poopface; I bet he doesn't even listen to it . . .
