Japanese Literature was fun again today-- that may actually be starting to be my favorite class. We were talking about The Tale of Ise ("in which there were pirates-- but they were ninja pirates, so you just didn't see them"), which a a series of love poems composed by ex-noble (the 5th son of the 8th son of an emperor-- sorry, buddy, you're out of the official royal bloodline )-:) Arewara no Narihara. Jessie decided he was The Original Harlequin-Romance-Ninja-Emo-Kid (or, erm, perhaps the only) and her Imaginary (/Secret) Boyfriend.

I still do feel rather bad for our professor, though, because he is a specialized academic, and we all want to integrate the material with our own personal relevant interests, like anime and emo music and such. Poor guy. He gets lost, then we get lost, then everybody's lost . . . it gets awkward, at times, but it's still a lot of fun. Plus I really like Japanese literature; it's so open with the raw emotion, at least at this time. When was the last time you saw somebody faint out of love, or die due to a broken heart? It's so romantic. *Sigh.*
