STALKED!!!
May. 17th, 2006 12:36 am( Erin, You Need To Get A Life! :-P (Stalker Meme) )
The Letter MeMe: respond with a comment to this entry and you, too, can muse upon a letter of my choosing.
Macabre: The repulsive, stylized. The artistic side of death. It appeals to me, which people never really expect (except for the dramatic part of it-- think suicide on a bed of roses in a white gown, or something, lol . . . ). There's beauty in the blatant, bloody part of death as much as there is in the slow decay (ahh, the Japanese side of me)-- and there's even a twisted humor in a heck of a lot of it. Oh, and, by the way, it is pronounced "muh-KA-bruh," not "muh-KAWB." You don't have to go crazy with the "uh," but just say it, at least a little bit. "Muh-KA-bruh" is pretty; "muh-KAWB" just makes me think of corn . . . totally not death and stylisticism . . .
Madness: This word always intrigued me as a kid. Are you "angry" mad, or "crazy" mad? Either way, it's an extreme, and a dangerous one. Sometimes, you're so mad, you go mad.
Marriage: Fancy word for exclusive rights to sex with one person. No, I don't actually believe that, but that's how it started out, before society got its lunchhooks into it, lol . . . Now, it's an "institution"-- it's not about just sex, or just love, or just family, or even just a combination of all three. It's got facets of all of them, plus a continuum of personal connection ranging from two people stuck together to "two souls combined as one." It's one of those things I'd like to experience (and hopefully once, and with the right person ^_^). Little shout it: Homosexual couples deserve it, too!
Martyrdom: I idealize it, dying for something. I place surprisingly little weight on my life in the face of great . . . greatnesses. I definitely was feeling V in V for Vendetta with the whole becoming part of an idea rather than being a person. I think I feel it less than I did a few years ago, though; once you start attaching yourself more closely to people, you lose that absolute ability ( . . . and, hey, guess what-- I cover a touch in on this in my story! Lol . . . ). For instance, I couldn't let myself be killed, if I had kids, like that-- or even s husband/lover, even, probably . . . So, my solution to fanatical martyrdom: Make friends with them. They won't want to die, anymore. Lol . . . yeah, I'm overly optimistic :-P
Mask: Perhaps one of the most beloved devices in dramatic and literary history. There are physical masks (who needs a costume?) and figurative masks, and masks are a worthy metaphor for those symbolic interactions we perform every day. I usually avoid wearing figurative masks, but I'm quite frankly sure I can't help it, of course-- though I do enjoy the idea of meeting some Romeo-like lover at a Masqerade Ball. Very romantic!
Materialism: The existence philosophy I disagree with for the most part, even though it is the dominating view of philosophers today. Like Idealism, it is based on only one realm of reality: the physical (idealism is purely mental; we imagine up the physical world, etc . . . ). I prefer Dualism, which has a different substance, property, or function of existence for the mental and physical. This is mostly because the idea that random electrical shocks in my brain causes everything, ever, from personality to God to my own imagination, just frankly sort of pisses me off :-P and doesn't make much sense, to me anyway. At any rate, it's depressing. I've said this before.
Medicine: It's good stuff, unless you want to be like the guy who pointed out every time you save lives it just brings about more people, and so people are always starving and dying and stuff . . . but I'd like to be the optimistic, happy one, here. I'm sure it's saved me plenty of times, and certainly saved me some loads of discomfort!
Mist: I like mist. It's very useful in setting a mood, both in real life and in literature. It also tastes very good. It makes me think of both England and Japan.
Muffins: I also like muffins. Nobody can not like muffins, really, lol . . . I used to always eat blueberry muffins and just pick the blueberries out (because I didn't like blueberries, even then!), becuase I thought that was the only kind of muffin there was. Sometimes my mom would bake me two special non-blueberry-filled ones in a batch, but then there was only two, and I got very quickly through them. Then I discovered banana-nut, and freaked out. Lemon poppyseed are awesome, too, as are the occasional chocolate, and those just generally plain, low-fat kind they serve at Center Court. Mmm . . .
Music: The universal code of humanity; perhaps it's going to save us all ("Can music save your mortal soul?"). I once imagined up an alien population that communicated entirely in musical tones. The vastness of music cannot be covered in this blurb, but I think it's a generally ultimate good, being better at communication than pure language (even instrumental), which is really staggering to think about!
Edit (2:03 am): Welcome, all my new Lumos friends . . . feel free to join in on the memelove!
