tabular_rasa: (Wherefore?)
Art for art's sake does wonderful things to you. It makes you laugh. It makes you cry. It makes you want to take naps and go places wearing funny pants. Yes! Lol . . .

National Novel Writing Month: You start on November 1st, and you write until November 31st, trying as hard as you can to get 50,000 words (for comparison, my entire "novel"-in-progress, is something like 211,000 words-- the first five chapters, in the edited, better form, is about 33,000 words). On the way, you can post stuff about how you hate writing it or you've run out of ideas and everyone else on the site commiserates with you. You make a little profile, and then it gets cool, and there's no winning or losing, just whether you made the goal or not, and you get like a little something if you do.

Anyone want to join in with me? Yeah, I know, November is probably a bad month . . . but what the hell? It's probably bad for everybody, except maybe the unemployed. At least it's not full-out final exams yet )or midterms, for that matter . . . ). Everyone's in it. Who's with me? A lot of you guys write. Christina? Keith? Robert? Liz? Katie? Jessica? Tiffany? (lol, you two, we could in theory use it to explore the von Brandts more, but it won't be official since it'd be weird to rush it like that ^_^) Lisa? Patricia? Kristina? Nichole? Alice? Michael? Erin? Jamien? Anne-that-I-don't-really-know-in-person? Jamie? Sarah? Julia? Tory?

I just signed up as MurasakiNeko, of course ^_^ We'll see how this goes . . .

Alright, in other news: Tiffany's school has a Quidditch team. Yes, a Quidditch team. They have the four Houses, and they go out and hit balls into little hoops on a field, and the Seeker carries a broom and the Beaters are allowed to whack balls at people with tennis rackets. Tiffany hasn't played a game (she's on the Gryffindor team), but she says the Snitch moves. I suspect it's a weaselball.

Edit (2:39 pm): I just got back from Japanese Civilization. I got an A on my "Day in the Life of a Heian Court Lady"!!! Yea!!! My professor came up and said she enjoyed reading it, and asked if I had ever read The Tale of Genji. I said no, but that I was very familiar with it-- such as when Dad brought home the illustrated summary of it, lol, and stuff like that . . .

After all, I <3 Murasaki Shikubu ^_^ . . . if that were not apparent, lol . . .

I think I may go in and ask her some questions about what I might necessarily need for my (non-November-quickie) novel. She might be able to give me some reasons for why Megumi's parents came to America, and when, which I haven't been able to provide a reliable backstory for, lol . . .

Also, guys . . . I just realized this: I wrote a fanfiction about Regulus Black (which can be found here ^_^ shameless plugging) once that was 40,000 words long. This is not long, this thing, this 50,000 words. I wrote the Regulus Black story over the course of a week. I was at home all the time, over summer vacation, but it just came to me. It's honestly not that bad, lol . . .
