Tornadoes and The Drama Awards Banquet
Jun. 2nd, 2005 04:30 pmI thought we were having an awful lot less tornadoes than usual. It hasn't stormed a good, cathartic storm yet this year. I know that's dumb to WISH for that sort of thing, but, well, I feel so unsatisfied!
Last night was nice, really, the Drama Awards Banquet. For some reason, thanks to Dan O, it was Christmas-themed, which was just kind of random, but oh well . . . lol . . .
I got an award, a nice plaque, for "outstanding performances in 'The Curious Savage' and 'Hello, Dolly!'" Andrew and Dan O got them, too. There also were silly senior awards, and I got the "Tas-her Award"-- Andrew presented it, and he was like, "This goes to a girl who plays an excellent psychopath on stage, even though she's nothing like that in real life. Okay-- actually, she is like that in real life. So, it's the Tas-Her-- get it? Taser? Tas her?-- Award . . . she's crazy, but I love her to death: Amy Troeger!" So then I came up and took the little paper, and was going to shake his hand like everyone else had done, but instead he took it and kissed it, and Erik and the two Dans just let out this huge, raucous, "AWW!!!" that they made go on for like a minute and a half. It was pretty darn funny, lol . . .
During the Thespian awards I felt awkward but then it was remedied . . . I was eligible for Thespians last years and everything, but I just never bothered to join. At one point during the ceremony, Mrs. Glenn called up "seniors" on stage, but she meant "senior Thespians," and so, after starting to get up, I started backing awkwardly back to my seat, but then everyone was like, "You can come up, too, Amy!" and Mary Wirick was like, "You're important! You have to be up there, too!" I just felt embarrassed and dumb and so I kept going, just kind of backing off, but then somebody started chanting, "Amy! Amy! Amy!" and so I couldn't just not go up there. It wasn't anything big. I just stood there. Still-- remnants of my Fairy May character coming out-- it's nice to feel loved.
I really wish we would have gotten yearbooks just one day earlier. There were a lot of drama people I wanted to sign mine, but I'm just never going to see them after last night, except by some stroke of Fate. I'm also not going to be able to get anyone in 3rd hour English to sign mine, either. I was HOPING that Honors Diploma/Presidential Award meeting 5th hour would have given us some time to confer and sign yearbooks with one another, but, apparently not (I did get William, though . . . so, one down . . . ). I was also hoping they would give us food, but apparently not. I was really hungry, too!!!
