WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY, I PWN YOU!!!
Oh yeah . . . two A's, two A-'s (in Japanese Civilization, Orchestra, Japanese, and Crossing Borders-- GO FIGURE, I definitely thought I had a solid B in that class, at the very best, a B+-- respectively-ish) ^_^ Introduction to East Asian Religions has yet to be posted, yet I expect to get an A/A- on that one, too-- in fact, all along (besides Orchestra), it was my only sure A, lol . . .
Today, I joined a band. More details, later, as soon as
wer3wolph get everything together . . . muhaha . . . *shifty glance; rubs hands together*
I have a lot of pictures to post, but this computer is retarded-- in both meanings of the word. Really-- it also has a personal grudge against me, lol . . . I miss Edmund, at school, lol . . .
I wrote a story about Moaning Myrtle for the Lumos community ring that I'm quite proud of (part of the History of Magic O.W.L.s-- yes, they do O.W.L.s, and yes, they are fun, and they are nothing like AP tests, lol . . . ). It's about Moaning Myrtle being toilet trained, which is ironic, symbolic, and hilariously tongue-in-cheek all at the same time, lol . . .
( . . . and yes, oh Improv people, I confess, I wrote a fanfiction. No sex, though; just toilets . . . though, as Freud points out, toilet training has everything to do with sex, as does, well, everything . . . lol . . . ).
Society Headed The Wrong Way
The premise of Darwinian evolution is that survival of the fittest along with changes in characteristics due to mutations results in the development and improvement of species over a long period of time. Many of our intellectual and political leaders insist that this theory be exclusively taught in schools. When this mindset dominates our society, what will the consequences be?
Compassion toward the poor, sick and disabled would be diminished, since they are not the fittest. Governmental aid would be decreased for those who no longer work since they do not contribute to society's evolutionary advancement. Moral principles and laws would be disregarded because they have no basis in that philosophy .
This is the direction our society appears to be headed because of the efforts of our leaders and teachers to eliminate the possibility that God created us and left us directions on how to live in this world. Those who believe this latter view should seek to change the direction our society is headed.
. . . because Scientific Darwinism is the same thing as Social Darwinism, and one can't possibly believe in God without believing rigidly in Creationism.
Taking Christ From Everything
I agree with (*name changed to protect the . . . innocent*) to stand up for the Christian's rights. But stand back and take a real good look at this picture that the government is painting. If you know the word, you will rejoice in this.
Yes, they want Christ taken out of everything. Yes, they have taken prayer out of our schools. Yes, they want Christ out of Christmas and the Ten Commandments out of view. They don't want to be reminded that there is a God and that they will have to answer to him someday.
When all these things about our Lord and Savior are taken out of this world, guess what -- look up -- our redemption draweth nigh. So count it all joy, because it won't be long. Jesus is coming.
If you can't make your point with logic or rationality, use an apocalyptic vision. Works every time.
. . . actually, it does-- in Elkhart.
Belief In Jesus Makes Us Better
As the Christmas season continues toward that special day in which all Christians celebrate the birth of the savior of the world, I would like to share some of the feelings and insights that I have concerning this event.
That belief in this babe, born in very humble circumstances, lifts our thoughts toward our home in heaven. It lightens our load and strengthens our resolve to be a little better each day. It enlightens our understanding of divine principles as we strive to emulate our great teacher and put them to work in our personal lives. We begin to take upon ourselves the countenance of deity.
The baby Jesus came to earth to redeem a fallen world and a fallen people. Since by Adam's transgression we are separated from the presence of God, it was necessary for a way to be provided for us to be cleansed of our sins. By removing the stain of sin, through the acceptance of the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ, we are able to return into the presence of God.
May each of us recognize the promptings of the Holy Ghost in our lives this Christmas season. Special feelings that swell in our hearts as we reach out to assist others, where we see a need, are witnesses to the reality of Jesus Christ and the plan of salvation. This plan, set forth in that great council in heaven, blesses all mankind and assures us of peace and joy, if we will choose to follow it.
Merry Christmas to all!
Okay . . . what does that have to do with anything??? Go be a pastor . . . eesh . . .
Understand God and Christmas Will Be A Lifestyle
Should we or should we not acknowledge Christmas?
In order to answer that, we must begin in the Garden of Eden, for it was there, in the most perfect environment, that sin had its awful beginning. While enjoying the fellowship of their creator, our first parents fell to the seductive lies of the serpent. Adam, in loyalty to Eve, joined in her disobedience and ate of the forbidden fruit.
Have we sinned like Adam and Eve? Let's see by answering the following with a tender conscience:
Have you ever lied? Be honest. Have you ever stolen something (the value of the article is irrelevant)? Have you ever committed adultery, or even desired to (if you lust, you commit adultery in your heart)? Anyone who answered "yes" to each God sees them as lying, thieving adulterers at heart. We've only looked at three of the Ten Commandments. If we have broken even one of these, then we have sinned against God.
God's justice requires that the penalty for sin must be paid. In payment, it separates the sinner from God and he therefore ends up in hell forever.
But here is the good news. God planned to restore mankind with himself and save them from hell. Without ceasing to be God, he became a man through a virgin birth 2,000 years ago. Only God could be the savior, thus the Messiah had to be God. Jesus Christ was the promised Messiah. The fulfillment of Old Testament prophesies in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus are absolute proof that he is the true and only Savior.
He died on the cross to take our punishment and then he rose from the dead. All we have to do is truly repent (confess and turn from sin) and trust in Jesus Christ and God will forgive our sins and grant eternal life with him in heaven. Salvation comes on God's terms, not some man-made religion. We either believe it or reject it.
If the world truly understood what God has done for them, Christmas would be a lifestyle, not just a day.
*Blinkblink.* Yes . . . thank you for your Biblical history . . .
Merry Christmas To None?
You don't have to be politically correct all the time.
This whole hullabaloo over "Merry Christmas" vs. "Happy Holidays" greetings is way overblown.
Shakespeare wrote in "Romeo and Juliet," "What's in a name? That which we call a rose. By any other name would smell as sweet," but he wasn't referring to one of the two biggest Christian celebrations of the year.
There are many traditions celebrated by different religions during this time of year. A Christmas tree is a Christmas tree; It's not a holiday tree. A Jewish Menorah is not a holiday candelabra. A nativity is not a birthday party.
But the fact that almost 80 percent of Americans are Christians and celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ on Dec. 25 is hard to debate.
So is the fact that Christmas is recognized as a national holiday just like Thanksgiving, Veterans' Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. There's no denying it -- so why not just acknowledge its existence, whether or not you believe? You don't have to celebrate it to get the day off of work. (And we don't hear about anyone arguing over that.)
So why, all of a sudden, has wishing people a "Merry Christmas," putting up signs with that seasonal greeting or changing the name of a Christmas sale become so taboo?
It's simply political correctness run amok.
And that is a bit ridiculous.
But if you look at it from an objective point of view for a moment, you might see that retailers want to widen their base and boost their profits by switching to "Happy Holidays" to accommodate customers of differing faiths (and those who don't have any faith). It's just marketing to a bigger audience.
Still, it's kind of silly.
"It's Christmas ... what else would you say?" asked Maj. Margaret Crampton of the Salvation Army in a recent story in The Truth.
No one can take the spirit of Christmas away from your heart. If someone else doesn't believe, or chooses to express their beliefs in a another way, let them. But don't let it dampen the meaning of the season for you.
Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah.
Thank you, rational human being. I bet it was the Romeo and Juliet reference. You can . . . not be ridiculed ^_^
Okay, yeah, so I'm really mean . . . and there's no laws about what one can put in editorials (and I've written them myself, but, thankfully, stayed out of the politics, lol . . . though so close to having I have wanted to submit one in; I've even written them all ready, lol . . . ) . . . but . . . honestly, folks . . .
I think I just don't like religion being rubbed in other people's faces. I really don't. It's done in spite-- which is very, very un-Christian, if you think about it-- to get people to say something against what they see as a liberal threat. Apparently Jesus is the best thing they've got-- even though he was totally a liberal. I mean . . . come on . . . lol . . .
Free speech, I commend thee for thy infinite cause of mine highest entertainment ^_^
